January 22nd Brothers Grim 1850: Game 3

So game 3 pairings were being announced and I heard my name followed by a very large groan from Michael, who's cousin or brother Chris I played in round 1, and who's other relative Rob Ive played before at Grim as well. My friend Eric was rather excited for this matchup as well, he had drawn Mike in the first round and lost slimly to him, and my other friend Brian had been beaten rather badly by Mike's orks at a previous tournament so there was a lot of pressure riding on our match, not to mention a big win for either of us could vault us into the top 3 for the day!

So after a bit more than a Draw in round 1 I found myself in the middle of the pack for round 2. And in that middle I found Danielle the Hive Mother at Brother's Grim and her stunning purple Tyranids. She was using a pretty diverse list:

So this past weekend I went down for the usual Brother's Grim Tournament that is held at the store in Long Island every other month. Brother's Grim is probably my, and my friend's favorite place to travel and get a few good games in. Its about an hour and a half trip for us but its well worth it every 8 weeks they have great terrain, great players, and great atmosphere. Its not every store that has 35-45 person events that often. So Bob, Eric and I went down to defend our November sweep where we took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. But while that had been in a smaller than usual field missing some of their best players this was not to be. 40+ people were playing this weekend and things looked rough right from the get go.

So tumbling out of the top track after my loss heading in to the 5th and final game of the weekend. Chris Dubuque who some of you may know as Jawaballs points at me and says its you and me. Bring on some red marines for some much needed revenge from last game.

Game 4 had me matched up against Jorge Ruiz and his Blood Angels.

Game 3 was straight Annihilation. Kill points right out of the main rule book, with spearhead deployment. I was matched up with Danny "Internets" Matulich. And luckily enough we both had the same amount of kill points, 19, which is always nice and fair, though most of his at least some quality weapons and almost a third of mine were just pods. Ive seen Dan at events in the past and knowing he is such a good player I've always wanted to see how my Dreads would match up against his melta vets.

Conflict 2011: Game 2

So game 2 of conflict saw me paired up with Lou Branco who beat me with his tyranid army at last years Conflict. And we drew the same mission we had last year... getting troop units into the opponents half of the board. A tough mission for my 5 scouts and 5 marines, but equally tough for Lou's foot based troops.

So game one I was paired against Gary and his Space Marines. With the amount of power armored players in the event it was pretty good odds. Our mission was pitched battle with 3 objectives that we would place after deployment and they would scatter.

Conflict Gt Postgame

So I had a great time at conflict this past weekend. Ill get to battle reports on all my games this week. Had a few grudge matches against some players from past events along with a few games against some of the top recognized players out there. Went 4-1 on the weekend and finished up 4th overall, so was pretty happy with the result even as I wish I had held on in my one loss.
